2nd Place in OAC Conference!

This past weekend the OAC basketball conference was held in Rolla. Varsity Boys & Girls teams came from Lebanon, Camdenton, Norwood, Ava, Wright County, and even from Mountain Home in Arkansas. Teams are from Christian schools or homeschool groups. Jenny's team nearly beat the winning team, but was defeated by 1 point by a buzzer beater basket. It was a very thrilling game. Here is the team with their 2nd place trophy.

The Royals had a great season, and really improved as a team. It is such a blessing to be able to participate with RHAA and benefit from not only the emphasis on basketball skills, but Godly character as well. By the way, the Girls varsity team received the best sportsmanship award during the conference which the other teams voted on. Way to go Royals!!

One Rather Sunny Afternoon..

Baseball is a sport loved my most Americans. My family included. =)

I really like this one. haha. :)

Cordell's favorite position is pitcher and he does a good job at it.

As for my pitching, it has improved since last year when I accidentally hit my mom in the head. ( I was catching and she was batting... It just slipped off my fingers wrong.)

I felt so bad....and so did mom's head.

Now, aside from T-ball, I have never actually played on a baseball team. I didn't enjoy it as much as I did basketball, and soccer, so I never got past hitting off the tee. (Just to clarify, I DO NOT hit off the tee anymore. =)

My brothers, however, really enjoy playing it which makes daddy very proud since baseball was "his sport" in high school.

Rolla Royals Girls Varsity Place 2nd in Conference Tourney!

Well, I am about 2 weeks late with this post! March 5th & 6th Jennifer's basketball team traveled to Harrison, Arkinsas, for the Ozark Area Conference Tournament. Girls teams were present from Camdenton, West Plains, Harrison, Mountain Home, and some other places I can't remember now. The Royals won all their games, except to the #1 seeded team, Mountain Home. The championship game was quite thrilling. After a very close game, it ended with a tie score and went into overtime - twice! Rolla lost by several points, but Mountain Home really had to earn their win!

After each game each team voted for the other teams' top 2 MVP players. Jennifer is shown here along with team mate, Kelsey Quitschreiber, as the team's MVP players. Jenny was quite surprised and honored by this award.

Cordell's Basketball Awards Party

Cordell was blessed to play on an Optimist team that not only had one great coach - but THREE terrific coaches. We are thankful to Coach Valentine, Coach Hunt, and Head Coach Florence for their many hours of instruction in not just basketball skills, but character building as well. The awards ceremony was a time to not only recognize the players for their basketball skill improvements, but also to encourage and honor their character traits as well.

Cordell was given the nicknames of The Captain, Quarterback, and WD-40. The Captain because of his leadership abilities on and off the court. Quarterback because he stayed calm in bringing the ball down the court and calling the plays. And WD-40 because the coaches said if there was a problem, they could count on putting Cordell on top of it and he would smooth it out.

Ryan was also recognized for being a helper during practices. He was given the nickname of PeaceMaker because he never wanted to cause any trouble, and was good to have around. Afterall, everyone wants peace.

Both boys had a great season and their skills really improved. Ryan was great at defense and really stuck with his man. He even started to learn to watch the ball while doing it!

Rolla Royals Girls' Varsity Takes 3rd Place!

Recently, (well, more like a month ago) Jennifer's basketball team played in a tournament in Lebanon. The competing teams were either home school teams or Christian schools from St. Louis, Springfield, Camdenton, Columbia, Rolla, and Lebanon . They played 5 games in tw0 days, with 2 games even back to back. In a couple of games the Royals came from behind and did not take the lead until the 4th quarter, for a very thrilling game to watch.


This is Jennifer's fifth year playing with the Rolla Homeschool Athletic Association (RHAA)basketball team. We have included a link on the side to their website. Be sure to check out their game schedules and photo gallery!
